About Us
Saying "Thank You" would be an understatement for how blessed we are to have the opportunity to serve this great community. We would like to share some background of who we are and what we hope to accomplish for you.
In 2005 a younger "Stephen and Abbie" had met while attending Western Illinois University. We both graduated in 2007 with a bachelors degree in family consumer science with an emphasis in hospitality management. After joining hands in marriage in 2007, a decision for Stephen to obtain his mortuary degree was in plan.
Stephen has been serving Beardstown and surrounding towns as a funeral director since 2008, and we knew that we would call Beardstown our home, a place to raise our children. Beardstown wasn't just a place we picked, but actually apart of our heritage. Years ago, you could find great grandpa Clarence "Pop" Anderson working the streets of the city and great grandma Margaret Anderson raising seven children at home.
We started our parenthood journey in 2011 when we welcomed our daughter Emerson "Emma" to the world, and two years later we brought home our son Rawlings.
Our dream of opening Colwell Memorial became a reality in the Fall of 2014. We want to work together to serve families during difficult times, and we are looking forward to many years of taking care of others while raising our family in this wonderful community.
