Vernon Large

Vernon Michael Large, age 64 of Beardstown, died Sunday, February 23, 2020 at his home.

He was born July 31, 1955 in Beardstown, the son of George William and Aileen E. Fritz Large. He married Linda Gann on August 18, 2007 in Chandlerville and she survives.

He is also survived by three sons Vernon Paul Large of Kentucky; Jason (wife Nicole) Large of Iowa, and Jeffrey Large of Peoria; two grandchildren Benjamin and Jackson, two brother George David (wife Gloria) Large and John Leon (wife Ronda) Large; four sisters Ila Smith, Winnie (husband Bob) Pherigo, Roberta (husband Kevin) Dennis, and Dottie (companion Todd Logsdon) Grafford; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Bunita (surviving husband David) Smith.

Vernon attended Beardstown Schools. He owned and operated Vern’s Appliance in Havana and worked with Tuffy Hance. He was a master of all trades and was always lending a hand to family and friends. Vernon enjoyed fishing and socializing, but most of all he loved talking about his grandkids.

A memorial service will be held at 7 PM Friday, February 28, 2020 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. Private family burial will be held in the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 4-7 PM Friday at the memorial home.
