Thomas Keith “Tom” Coatney, age 56 of Bluff Springs, died Friday, December 11, 2020 at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
He was born February 15, 1964 Portland, ME the son of Rev. Billy and Cleo Sonricker Coatney. He married Allison Gabbert on September 18, 1999.
He is survived by his wife Allison Coatney of Bluff Springs; six children Bren (husband Andy) Frank of Beardstown, Ann Coatney (boyfriend Ryan Fitzpatrick) of Virginia, Daniel (fiancé Olivia Garrett) Coatney of Woodson, Samantha (husband Terrence) Williamson of Macomb, and Ethan and Alex Coatney of Bluff Springs; seven grandchildren Evin, Beckham, Paisley, Remington, Greyson, Lilly, Colt, with one on the way; a sister Carol Boyles Fairfield; a brother Rodger (wife Linda) Coatney of Mt. Vernon; three nieces; and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Pamela Coatney.
Tom graduated from Brownstown High School in the class of 1981. He attended Greenville and Asbury College and received a Degree in Broadcasting and a Degree in Cinematography. He worked for Heritage Corporation but more recently he was self-employed. Tom was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Beardstown. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan, enjoyed sitting outside and grilling/smoking meat with his sons. In his free time, you could find him supporting the Democratic party, posting memes on Facebook, and loving on his dogs. His true passion was spending time with family and attending all his grandchildren’s events. Finally, he was reunited with his buddy Scott Campbell and it is certain the laughter was heard from Heaven.
Private family services will be held with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. An informal visitation will be held from 10 AM until Noon on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. Friends are encouraged to watch Tom’s services streaming live at 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 16, 2020 on the memorial home website at www.colwellmemorialhome.com.
Due to the current health situation, face masks will be required and to comply with social distancing guidelines, a limited number of people will be allowed in the memorial home at one time.
