Sharon Kay Troxell, age 74 of Arenzville, died Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at her home.

She was born August 6, 1947 in Cass County, the daughter of Charles and Beatrice Crews Plunkett. She married John R. Troxell on August 13, 2013 in Barwell, Nebraska and he survives.

She is also survived by her three daughters Linda (husband David) Gibson of Post Falls, ID, Debbie (husband Dave) Trojahn of Olive Branch, MS, and Molly (husband James) Dearing of Havana; four stepchildren John Troxell and Laura Troxell-Bridges both of Patterson Bay, Kevin (wife Teresa) Lascelles of Kilbourne, and Lori Lascelles of Oakford; five grandchildren Alex and Adam Gibson, Luke and Ryan Trojahn, and Jack Dearing; six step grandchildren John M. Troxell, Hunter and Mackenzie Pierson, Irene Knous, Patrick and Clayton Fornoff, and Rachel Van Cleve; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Julia Lynn Barrett; her twin sister Karen Plunkett, a sister Norma New, a brother Myron “Delbert” Plunkett, and a step grandson Clayton.

Sharon graduated from Triopia High School in the class of 1965. Following graduation, she went to Nursing School at Passavant in Jacksonville and graduated in the class of 1968. Sharon spent her career caring for others as a Nurse in the surrounding area including Passavant Hospital, Beardstown Hospital, Oscar Mayer, and St. John’s Hospital retiring in 2012. Sharon was a natural care giver all her life. She had a passion for horses as was truly a cowgirl living her dream on her family farm in Arenzville. Her lifetime heart throb was Festus from Gunsmoke, and even John was okay with this fantasy crush. In her free time, she loved knitting, quilting, and taking buggy rides, and spent many summers growing and canning vegetables. Most of all she cherished the time she spent with family and her life will forever hold a special place in each of their lives.

A celebration of life visitation will be held from 3-5 PM Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. There will be no formal services and private family burial will be held.
