Robert Vancil

July 10, 1963 — October 14, 2022

Robert James “Ballbat” Vancil, 59 of Beardstown, died Friday, October 14, 2022 at his home.

He was born July 10, 1963 in Schuyler County, the son of Maurice Robert and Donna Jean Hamm Vancil.

He is survived by his mother Donna Vancil of Beardstown; the mother of his two oldest daughters Jody Cook and the mother of his youngest daughter Selena Cavett; three daughters Ashley (husband Michael) Vancil of Decatur, Bobbie Jo (companion Johnnie) Vancil of Virginia, and Savannah Vancil of Brooklyn, IL; three grandsons Cody, Dean, and Sam; a granddaughter Charlotte arriving soon; one sister Amanda Vancil of Rushville; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister Rebecca “Becky” Gossage.

Robert graduated from Rushville High School in the class of 1982. He began his career at Excel in Beardstown and retired from JBS after 33 years of employment. He enjoyed rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys, and cherished the time he spent outdoors, especially on the river. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Robert had a passion for trail rides on his 4-wheeler and was a man with a lot of friends. More importantly his daughters and grandkids were the apple of his eye, and he was anxiously awaiting the arrival of his granddaughter. He loved more than anything spending time with family and friends.
