Garry Shaw

Garry Lindell Shaw, age 77 of Pawnee and formerly of Beardstown, died Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at his home.

He was born January 13, 1944 in Carrollton, the son of Wilbur and Leta Custer Shaw. He married Marjorie Monger and she survives.

Also surviving are his two children Barbara Smith of Pawnee and Jason Shaw of Springfield; eight grandchildren Tylor Smith, Jason “Cale” Smith, Isaiah Shaw, Cassie Story, Noah Smith, Dominic Shaw, Wyatt Shaw, and Piper Shaw; four siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings.

Garry graduated from Carrollton High School and then honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He then began a 30 plus year career starting with Oscar Mayer in Beardstown and retiring from Cargil. Gary enjoyed golfing and could be heard cheering on the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears.

Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no formal services. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
