Donald Boice

Donald LeRoy Boice, age 82 of Beardstown, died Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Heritage Health in Beardstown.

He was born December 30, 1936 in Beardstown, the son of Clarence and Alice Hill Boice. He married Deloris French on November 1, 1957.

He is survived by his wife Deloris Boice of Beardstown; his daughter Diane (husband Brian) Warden of Beardstown; two grandchildren Scott Warden of Springfield and Hannah (husband Adam) Hahn of Chatham; a brother Charles Boice of Indiana; and a sister Judy Clement of North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Douglas Boice, and two sisters Geraldine Newell and Evelyn Fry.

Don graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1955. He worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in disaster relief and surveying levee’s and retired as Lockmaster from LaGrange Lock and Dam. Don was also a 40 year volunteer for the Beardstown Fire Department, drove a bus for PACT Head start, and worked with his son-in-law at Save-a-Lot in Beardstown. He was a member of Sangamon Valley Presbyterian Church and Beardstown Elks Lodge #1007. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, wood carving, drinking coffee with his friends and was loyal to the Elks Bingo committee. He was a devoted husband who cared more for his wife and families well being than his own. He will be greatly missed by all.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 5-7 PM Wednesday at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown.
