Clifford Vern Anderson, age 85 of Beardstown, died due to complications from Covid-19, Sunday, November 1, 2020 at Mason City Area Nursing Home.
He was born May 10, 1935 in Beardstown the son of Mede and Cora Crews Anderson.
He is survived by three children Michael (wife Mary Beth) Anderson of Big Lake, MN, Tammy Jo (husband Kevin) Meyer of Mason City, and Randy Lee Anderson of Beardstown; his daughter-in-law Connie Anderson; seven grandchildren Douglas and Kaitlin Meyer, and Dustin, Shawnda, Kirsten, Devron and Hunter Anderson; four great grandchildren Kaiden Willis, and Draven, Lyric, and Deon Anderson; one sister Grace Anderson of Beardstown; one brother Melvin Anderson of Beardstown; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three wives Dorothy Tucker, Opal Bradley, and Deloris Davis, three sisters Helen Anderson, Audrey Mohlenbruck, and Eleanor Van Hyning; and five brothers Jesse, Robert, Carl, Lee, and Alvin Anderson.
Clifford attended Black Oak and Brick Schools and he learned from a young age the value of hard work. He was a painter at Fiat-Allis in Springfield for 20 years until there closing. He enjoyed working outdoors growing and selling Christmas Trees, watermelons, and pumpkins. When he wasn’t working, Clifford liked to find treasures at auctions, flea markets, and yard sales. Some of his happiest times were visiting and playing Bingo with friends around the tables at McDonald’s. Family was most important to Clifford, and he will always be with them.
Graveside services will be held at Noon Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Black Oak Cemetery in rural Beardstown. The family will meet with friends from 10:30-11:30 AM Thursday at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown.
Due to the current health situation, face masks will be required, and to comply with social distancing guidelines, a limited number of people will be allowed in the memorial home at one time.
