Clarence Mcmurl, Jr.

Clarence Roy “Buddy” McMurl, Jr., age 61 of Beardstown, died Saturday, May 4, 2019 at his home.

He was born December 21, 1957 in Beardstown, the son of Clarence Roy McMurl, Sr. and Helen Lucille Mercer McMurl.

He is survived by his children Jennifer (husband Mark) Miller of Hulett, WY, Racheal (husband Luke) McGinnis of Rushville, Michael Thorton of Rushville, Corey McMurl of Quincy, Cheri Mansfield of Frederick, and Crystal McMurl of Frederick;17 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; three sisters Mary Lou Burton of Beardstown, Theresa Parga of Bloomington, and Kathy Pratt of Beardstown; one brother Frank McMurl of Texas; his best friend Tom (wife Debbie) Dotzert of Beardstown; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Ricky McMurl, his brother-in-law Scotty Pratt, and a nephew Doug Pratt.

Buddy attended Beardstown School and then began his lifelong career on the river. He started out working with Logsdons Tug Service, and through the years he retired as an Engineer. He always enjoyed working on anything with a motor. When he was younger, he rode dirt bikes and four wheelers, and later in life he enjoyed motorcycles, boating, and mudding. Buddy’s life was the river and his family, both of which he loved.
