Billie Wayne Smith, age 80 of rural Arenzville, died Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at his home.

He was born February 24, 1940 in Camden, TN, the son of Arville and Katie Woodrell Smith. He married Earlene Walters on October 26, 1975 in Crowne Point, IN and August 31, 2015 in Winchester.

He is survived by his wife Earlene Smith of rural Arenzville; his children Billie Jo (husband Eddie) Miller of Murrayville and Earl (wife Brooke) Smith of Winchester; a step son Terry (wife Christi) Jazewski of Gathersburg, MO; nine grandchildren Jordan and Tucker Smith, Holly and James Miller, Cooper and Bailey Braner, and Alex, Gracie, and Nicky Jazewski; and one brother Bobbie (wife Martha) Smith of Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Jimmie Smith, and a grandson Billie Dean.

Billie graduated from Greenfield High School in Tennessee. After graduation he began working with his dad as a truck driver, and then spent the remaining 25 years of his career with Quality Carriers, retiring in 2010. He enjoyed rummaging through treasures at auctions and working on small engines. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Beardstown where he served as Head Trustee. Billie loved spending time with his family and will be missed by all.

Private family services will be held with burial in Arenzville North Cemetery. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements. Friends are encouraged to watch Billie’s services streaming live at 11 AM Thursday, May 7, 2020 on the funeral homes website.
