Betty Lovekamp

Betty Ellen Lovekamp, age 78 of Jacksonville, died Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital.

She was born September 18, 1943 in Beardstown, the daughter of Ora T. And Imogene Hierte Campbell. She married Gordon Dean “Gordy” Lovekamp on June 10, 1962 in Virginia and he preceded her in death on July 20, 2020.

She is survived by two children Deborah (husband Mark) Morris of Jacksonville and Joseph (wife Jennifer) Lovekamp of Concord; three grandchildren Ian (wife Dawn), Kahley (husband Sam), and Kyrie; five great grandchildren DJ, Addy, Hunter, Roman, and Lux; a sister Sondra Walters; her beloved dog and a lifelong friend and neighbor Carolyn Davies. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two sisters Sherry Campbell and Dorothy Swan.

Betty attended Beardstown High Schools and worked as a nurse’s aide at the Beardstown Hospital. She was an outdoor enthusiast spending her time fishing, hunting, mushrooming, and camping. She had a passion for horses, whether she was trail riding, attending horse shows and even barrel racing. Betty enjoyed cooking for her family, and they all made the greatest memories spending time around her pool.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. There will be no burial. The family will meet with friends from noon until the time of services on Saturday at the memorial home.
