Arbon Mark Grossman, age 63 of Macomb, died Friday, February 19, 2021 at his home.
He was born June 30, 1957 in Beardstown the son of Arbon G. and Shirley Phelps Grossman.
He is survived by his mother Shirley Cronin of Macomb; his aunt Phyllis Anderson of Beardstown; his sister Gloria (husband Jeffrey) Smith of Oklahoma; three nephews David James Wetherell, Jeffrey Scott (wife Gabrielle) Smith Jr, and Weston Andrew Smith; and a great niece Kennedy Rose Smith. He was preceded in death by his father, his grandparents, his step-father John J. Cronin, M.D., and his brother David G. Wetherell.
Mark graduated from River Forest High School and from Western Illinois University with a degree in Nuclear Physics. He was a Superintendent for several nuclear power facilities, the last being Dresden Generating Station in Morris, and retired in 2017. He liked golfing even if he wasn’t the greatest. Mark enjoyed guns, trap shooting, and the occasional classic cigar. He often could be seen riding around town on his bicycle or cheering on his favorite team, Notre Dame. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Monday, February 22, 2021 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown, with Pastor Daryl Vermillion officiating. Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the services at the memorial home on Monday.
Due to the current health situation, face masks will be required and social distancing guidelines should be followed.
