William Monroe "Lucky" Valentine Jr., 71, died on July 1, 2026, at Beardstown Health and Rehab.
Lucky was born on April 27, 1955, and honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he spent many years working as a truck driver, a career that kept him on the road and carried him through many places and chapters of life.
In recent years, Lucky made Beardstown his home after relocating from Jacksonville. Though he was estranged from his family, he made an impression on many of those he encountered along the way. His life was filled with different paths, places, and experiences, and those who crossed his path became a part of his story.
Lucky's final chapter will be one of dignity and recognition for his service to our country. He will be laid to rest with full military honors at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
Anyone who knew Lucky, crossed paths with him, or simply wishes to honor a veteran who served his country is welcome to attend and pay their respects as he is laid to rest.
Colwell Memorial Home and Crematory is honored to be entrusted with Lucky's arrangements. We take great pride in answering the call to serve those who have served our country and in helping ensure that he is laid to rest with dignity and the military honors afforded to him through his service.
