Virginia Wyant

Virginia Maxine Stevens Wyant, 89 of Rushville, died Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Heritage Health in Beardstown.

She was born November 22, 1926 in Beardstown, the daughter of Daniel Martin and Nellie Opal Downs Reed. She married Howard Dale Stevens on August 5, 1944 in Beardstown and he preceded her in death on June 3, 1987. She later married Russell Wyant on November 22, 1999 and he preceded her in death on November 28, 2011.

She is survived by her children Dana (wife Diane) Stevens, Craig (wife Vickey) Stevens, Susan (husband Bob) Johnson all of Rushville, and Cynthia Colglazier of California; eleven grandchildren; and twenty great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, two children in infancy, one sister Lois Opal Settles, and her great grandson William Smith.

Maxine graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1943. She then furthered her education at Tennessee Temple University focusing on English and Bible course work. She was a member of 1stSouthern Baptist Church of Beardstown. Maxine spent the majority of her life raising her children and assisting her husband as a preacher’s wife. She also worked for Beardstown Human Resource Center as an administrative assistant and belonged to the Women’s on Mission. In her spare time, Maxine enjoyed writing poetry, painting, teaching the Bible and doing the Lord’s work. Most of all she cherished her family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown with Reverend Brian Kenney officiating. Burial will be in Messerer Cemetery in Frederick. There will be an informal visitation on Friday from 4-6 PM at Colwell Memorial Home. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the services at the memorial home on Saturday.

Memorials have been suggested to Pregnancy Resource Center, First Southern Baptist Church, or Beardstown Human Resource Center.
