Tommy Dale "Jud" Jamison, 82, of Beardstown, died Monday, October 5, 2026, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield with his wife by his side.
He was born October 2, 1944, in Beardstown, the son of Frank Arthur and Frances L. Bowman Jamison. He married Meredith Harris on August 10, 1997, and she survives in Beardstown.
He is also survived by two sons, Larry D. Jamison and F. Douglas "Doug" Curry, both of Beardstown; one daughter, Lisa Lloyd (husband Walt) of Rushville; one granddaughter, LeeAnn Eiffert (husband Ted), and their children, Chloe and Lincoln; two brothers, Larry Jamison (wife Sue) of Jacksonville and David Jamison of Beardstown; one sister, Nancy Beck (husband Paul) of Iowa; two special family friends, Haley R. and Charles Mason Turner; and several nieces and nephews, including his especially close nephew, Adam Jamison (wife Kristen), and their children, Jagger and Juliet, and niece Amanda Jamison.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mary Frances Burns, Peg Ross, and a sister in infancy; two brothers, Gene Jamison and Pat Jamison; and two sisters-in-law, Jean and Naomi Jamison.
Tom graduated from Beardstown High School with the Class of 1962 and went on to enjoy a long career as an electrician with Ameren CIPS, retiring in 2011 after more than 40 years of service. He was a member of IBEW Local 702, where he served as one of its first board members; a member of A.F. & A.M. Cass Lodge #23; and a devoted member of the Elks Lodge for more than 50 years, serving twice as Exalted Ruler.
For more than 25 years, Tom was especially proud to oversee the "Playing Cards for Veterans" program through the Grand Lodge of Elkdom. Through his efforts, approximately half a million decks of playing cards collected from casinos throughout Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, and Mississippi were shipped to veterans. It was a project that reflected both his commitment to service and his deep appreciation for those who served their country.
Tom loved being outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting ducks, geese, deer, and turkey. Just as important to him were the simple routines and friendships of everyday life, including morning coffee at Tyson's with Archie Stagner, Ron Steffan, and the late Donnie Harris.
Per Tommy's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation from 5-7 PM Friday, October 9, 2026, at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. In keeping with Tommy's easygoing nature, he asked that everyone come dressed casually. Following the visitation, those who wish to stay are invited to share memories, stories, and reflections together.
A separate celebration of Tommy's life will be held at Gumtown at a later date, with details to be announced privately.
Memorials have been suggested to Elks Children's Care or to a charity of the donor's choice. Condolences may be left online at www.colwellmemorialhome.com or on Facebook at Colwell Memorial Home.
