Shirley A. Moore, 87 of Beardstown, died Friday, December 1, 2023 at her home.
She was born February 1, 1936 in Beardstown, the daughter of Eddie and Cynthia Surratt Maltby. She married Roy L. Moore on July 10, 1954 in Beardstown and he preceded her in death on May 19, 2014.
She is survived by one son Eric (wife Jody) Moore of Beardstown; two grandchildren Katie Joe (husband Oscar) Cluney of Frederick and Nathan Moore of Beardstown; a great-grandson Maddox Cluney and great-granddaughter Stevie Smith; several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend Roseanne Buck. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Gregory Scott Moore, two sisters Bertha Jane Clements and Juanita Noe, and a brother Hazen Maltby.
Shirley graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1954. She was a homemaker who loved to keep a daily routine. Her favorite pastimes were shopping and going out to eat. She was a part of the afternoon crew, who met at Hardee's and shared many milestones within those walls. Shirley was a classy woman who took pride in getting ready even if it was just to go to the grocery store with her grandson. She never forgot a birthday and was always thoughtful and considerate to everyone she loved. Most of the time she thought things worked her own way in her own world. She loved her coffee and always found a way to take a ride around town even if it led to Dairy Queen for a Moolatte. A void will be felt by all those who loved her the most.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Beardstown. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the memorial home.
