Shirley Ann Lux, 80, of Beardstown died Thursday, October 15, 2015, at Walker Nursing Home in Virginia, IL.

Shirley was born June 2, 1935, the daughter of Norman and Helen Knippenberg Carls. She married Kenneth Edward Lux on August 30, 1953, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Beardstown and he survives.
She is also survived by one daughter, Lisa (husband Jim) Langdon of Cleveland, TN.; two sons, Kevin (wife Susan) Lux, and Jeff (wife Sandra) Lux of Beardstown; one sister Mickey (husband Jerry) Paul of Beardstown; eight grandchildren, Rebecca (Molly) Flowers, Ben and Will Langdon, Liz (Antonio) Delgado, Allison (Josh) Hetzler, Adam, Jed, and Jake Lux; three great-grandchildren, Adeline and Ansel Hetzler, and Peter Delgado; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, including niece Jamie (C.J.) Clements and great-niece Whitney Clements.


She was proceeded in death by her parents, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Shirley attended Beardstown High School graduating in 1953. She had a very sweet singing voice and sang for many weddings and funerals. She was a homemaker and a 4-H leader. As the children grew older, she worked as a receptionist for Dr. Hea. Later, she was employed at Meyer Red Fox. Shirley was a life-long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Ladies Aid & Mission Society. She loved to travel with Kenny and enjoyed trips to Sicily, Mexico, and all over the United States. Being an excellent cook, she enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables from their garden and hosting her family for holiday dinners. She was a very generous woman, always willing to give more than she received.


Visitation will be Monday, October 19, from 5:00-7:00pm and funeral services will be Tuesday, October 20, at 10:00 am, both at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown, with Reverend Douglas Evenson officiating. Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Cass/Schuyler Hospice.
