Rosa "Angelita" Hernandez Garcia, 62, of Beardstown, died Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

She was born January 29, 1962, in Las Cebollas, Jalisco,Mexico the daughter of Lino and Julia Garcia.

She is survived by her father Lino Garcia of Iowa; five children Elizabeth Cox (husband Zachary) of Beardstown, Evangelina Mendoza Garcia of Springfield, Erica Mendoza Garcia (partner Mitch Webster) of Beardstown, Manuel Rojo Garcia (partner Abril Rojas) of Beardstown, and Daniel Rojo Garcia (wife Mackenzie) of Beardstown; 3 grandchildren Jayden Stephenson, Carlos Garcia and Ezequiel Cox; seven siblings Gloria Garcia, Luis Garcia, Maria "Elvia" Lizarde, Jesus "Chuy" Garcia, Guadalupe "Lupe" Garcia, Abelino "Nino" Garcia, and Ana Garcia; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and two brothers, Leonardo and Alfonso "Fon" Garcia.

Rosa was a member of St. Alexius Catholic Church in Beardstown. She was a homemaker who took pride in raising her children. She also welcomed other kids into her home to care for when their parents were working. She enjoyed music, sewing, knitting, and working in her flower and vegetable garden. Cooking was her love language, and when those around her would eat, it truly did bring her so much joy. No one else could cook like she did. Her authentic Mexican cooking was her family's favorite. Spending time feeding her family truly brought so much to her life.

A funeral mass will be held at 9:30 AM on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at St. Alexius Catholic Cemetery in Beardstown. The burial will be in St. Alexius Catholic Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 5-7 PM Friday at Colwell Memorial Home, with prayer services following the visitation.

Nació el 29 de enero de 1962 en Las Cebollas, Jalisco, México, hija de Lino y Julia García.

Su madre y dos hermanos, Leonardo y Alfonso García, fallecieron antes que ella.

Rosa era miembro de la Iglesia Católica St. Alexius en Beardstown. Era una ama de casa que se enorgullecía de criar a sus hijos. También recibía a otros niños en su casa para cuidarlos cuando sus padres trabajaban. Disfrutaba de la música, coser, tejer y trabajar en su huerto de flores y vegetales. Cocinar era su lenguaje de amor, y cuando quienes la rodeaban comían, realmente le traía mucha alegría. Nadie más podía cocinar como ella lo hacía. Su auténtica comida mexicana era la favorita de su familia. Pasar tiempo alimentando a su familia realmente trajo mucho a su vida.

Se llevará a cabo una misa fúnebre a las 9:30 a. m. el sábado 17 de agosto de 2024 en el cementerio católico St. Alexius en Beardstown. El entierro será en el cementerio católico St. Alexius. La familia se reunirá con amigos de 5 a 7 p. m. el viernes en Colwell Memorial Home, con servicios de oración después de la velación.
