Richard Eugene “Ike” Seaman, 82 of Beardstown, died Friday, January 2, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born September 7, 1932 in Springfield the son of Paul Harold and Helen Irene Gray Seaman. He married Arlana Mae “Lana” Haynes on June 2, 1956 in Petersburg. Surviving is his wife Lana Seaman of Beardstown; three children Karen (husband David) Heater of Grand Canyon, AZ, Don (wife Wenying Zhong) Seaman of Morton, and Dick (wife Vicki) Seaman of Dacula, GA; twelve grandchildren Sheridah (husband Rich) Bosshart, Brandon Relihan, Ryan (fiancé Jenny) Relihan, Tristan (partner Jay) Relihan, Sean (wife Nadine) Relihan; Aaron (wife Stacy) Seaman, Adam (fiancé Brooke), Amanda Smith(Seaman), Alexis (husband Sam) Hawari, Anthony Seaman, Zia Zhou and Derick Seaman; thirteen great grandchildren Garret Perkins(wife Latres), D.J. Wilks (wife Lila), and Stephanie Wilks: Nick, Gabe, Zander, and Will Seaman, Alexander, and Zoey Tichenor, Austin Seaman, Aidan Seaman, Braylon Hawari, and Andison Smith: seven great-great-grandchildren; Devin, Kayden Perkins, Nevaeh, Jeremiah, Mason, Cameron, and Briley Wilks: one brother Bill Seaman of Missouri; a sister-in-law Erika Seaman; a niece Catherine Seaman; and three nephews James, Paul, and Richard Seaman. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Paul Harold “Jelly” Seaman, a daughter-in-law Donna Seaman, and a grandson Matthew Seaman. Richard graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1950. He served in the US Navy as a Seaman First Class and was a SONAR Technician. He was a mail carrier in Morton and retired from the Post Office in 1989. He enjoyed golfing and was a career 180+ average bowler. Richard was a member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge #1007 in Beardstown. He and his wife loved Waltzing and Jitterbugging. He was a family man and was very instrumental in his children and grandchildren’s lives.The family will host friends from 11AM-1PM on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at B.P.O. Elks Lodge #1007 in Beardstown for a lunch and fellowship. Memorials have been suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
