Richard A. Crafton, 67 of Raymond, died Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab.

He was born September 12, 1956 in Beardstown, the son of Richard Robert and Lettie Hagerty Crafton.

He is survived by his companion Mary Sue Riley of Raymond; six children Becky, Jessie, Mike, Tony, Amanda, and Buddy Crafton; a sister Becky (husband George) Bishop of Mt. Sterling; three brothers Michael Crafton, Darryl (wife Sandy) Crafton, and Terry Crim; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Larry, Raymond, and Leslie Crafton.

Richard attended Beardstown Schools and later honorably served in the United States Army. He moved around but has recently lived in the Hillsboro area with his companion for the past 19 years. He was of the Christian Faith. Richard recycled junk and scrap metal. He always had a knack for crafting, whether with wood, making spears, or dreamcatchers. He had a determined spirit. Richard was a jokester, always playing pranks, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Monday, December 18, 2023 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. Burial will follow in the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the services at the memorial home on Monday.
