Quentin Lee "Bam" Swan, 49, of Virginia, died Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born May 30, 1975, in Savanna, the son of Robert C. and Sharon K. Graham Swan. He married Jene Kight on July 29, 1995 and she survives in Virginia.
He is also survived by two children, Blayne (wife Nicole) Swan of Brussels, Belgium, and Mattie (husband Brock) Holmes of Virginia; five grandchildren, Grace and Lilly Swan, Elsa, Violette, and Eloise Holmes; one brother, Herschel (wife Heidi) Swan of Macomb; two sisters Bobbie Jarrett of Virginia and Angie (husband Ron) Rohlfing of Florida; nine nieces and nephews Leigha, Derek, Austin, Kaylee, Breeann, Drake, Macie, Tori, and Emily; and a special cousin Rick (wife Tiffany) Pate of Iowa. His love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Glenna Lyles, and his mother-in-law, Miriam Kight.
Quentin graduated from Beardstown High School in 1994 and then honorably served in the United States Army. He loved working with his brother. They fished up and down the Illinois River, then started driving for Clinards, Curry, and continued with LCI, earning his way to Manager of Operations in Beardstown from 1996 to 2023. He was known all over for his concrete knowledge. Everyone around was guaranteed to share a good laugh whenever he walked into a room. Quentin enjoyed trying his luck at the casino, and he loved music, especially Elvis and Johnny Cash, playing guitar, and quoting movies. No condiments were allowed around him; he was an "old school" guy, very family-oriented, and his greatest joy was spending time with his granddaughters.
