Pauline M. “Polly” Trone, 93 of Beardstown, died Monday, October 12, 2015 at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

She was born May 17, 1922 in Oakland Township, Schuyler County, the daughter of Oscar Franklin and Ethel Nina Johnson Hopping. She married Thomas Alfred Trone on September 11, 1939 in Palymra, MO and he preceded her in death on October 12, 1978.

She is survived by her children Marna (husband Robert) Maxwell of Browning and Larry (wife Nancy) Trone of Beardstown; a daughter-in-law Georgeann Gordon of Browning; ten grandchildren Rob (companion Brenda Salt) Maxwell, Karrie Maxwell Reilly, Rhonda (husband Jeff) Goad, Scott (wife Angie) Trone, Steve (wife Sally) Trone, Ryan (wife Beth) Gordon, Angie (husband Robin) Knous, Heidi (husband Mike) Gann, Schuyler (husband Jim) Lauderback, and Tom Trone; fifteen great grandchildren Sarah (husband Mitch) Jessen, Braden Reilly, Derek Maxwell, Taylor (companion Cody Ren) Trone, Jayme Trone, Madalyn Trone, Deni Jo Trone, and Tyler Scott Trone, Jared (wife Abby) Knous, Bryan Knous, Genna (companion David Sullivan) Knous, Cadey Knous, Mac (companion Gwen Force) Gann, Gracie Gann, and Quin Lauderback; three great great grandchildren Mitchell Jessen, Olivia Ren, and Ayden Sullivan; one sister Geraldine “Geri” Stevens; numerous nieces and nephews; a special nephew Jon Crozier who spent the past year dedicating extra time to his Aunt and a special neighbor and friend Jim Burgett.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Dennis Trone, two grandchildren Melody Maxwell and Jon Douglas Trone; three brothers Russell, Harold Dean “Pete”, and Kenneth Wayne “Hop” Hopping, and sister Verna Vesta Mathis.

Pauline attended small country schools in the area surrounding Astoria. She helped her husband on the family farm located in the Browning area for nearly forty years, and later she worked at Myers Nursing Home in Beardstown and retired after eighteen years as a CNA. She loved to sew dresses for her daughter. She was a great cook and known for her homemade noodles, cinnamon rolls, and brownies. If you came to her home the first thing she would ask you is “Have you eaten?”. Pauline had a giving heart and her greatest joy was always being there to help other people and her family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. There will be an informal visitation from 9 AM until the time of services at the memorial home. Burial will be in the Browning Cemetery.

Memorials have been suggested to Browning United Methodist Church.
