Paul Booth

Aug 3, 1936 — Sep 7, 2026

Paul Roscoe Booth, 90, of Beardstown, died Monday, September 7, 2026, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

He was born August 3, 1936, in Kampsville, the son of Roscoe and Frances Hartman Booth. He married Linda Bollinger on May 21, 1955, at St. Alexius Catholic Church, and she survives in Beardstown.

He is also survived by four children, David Booth (wife Annette) of Springfield, Sherry Winkelman (husband Dale) of Concord, Sandra Daniel (husband Tim) of Beardstown, and Gerry Booth (wife Stacy) of Springfield; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Booth (wife Beverly) of Mt. Sterling; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Evelyn Collins and Louise Davis.

Paul was a graduate of Beardstown High School, Class of 1954. He began his career with Material Service and later became a member of Iron Workers Local #46 in Springfield. During those years, he also opened Paul's McCulloch Sales in Beardstown, operating the business for many years before retiring in 2000.

Paul was a longtime member of St. Alexius Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was deeply committed to serving his community and served on the boards of Cass County 911, MCS Community Services, and the Beardstown Rural Fire Department. His leadership and dedication played an important role in the success and growth of the rural fire department, as well as the community's transition to the 911 emergency system. Paul believed strongly in giving back and continued volunteering even more after his retirement.

One of Paul's greatest lifelong passions was go-kart racing. His involvement in the sport reached far beyond Beardstown, and he became well known throughout the kart racing community. His dedication, knowledge, and contributions earned him induction into the World Karting Association Hall of Fame, an honor held by only a select group within the sport. Whether through racing, business, volunteering, or simply helping others, Paul poured his energy into the things and people he cared about.
