Michael Ray "Mike" Mullen, Jr, 58 of Chandlerville, died Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 4, 1965 in Beardstown, the son of Michael "Mike" Sr. and Judy K. Bresnahan Mullen. He married Linda Mills on March 13, 1998 and she survives in Chandlerville.

He is also survived by two children Jason (wife Courtney) Mullen of Beardstown and Sarah Mullen of Chandlerville; the mother of his son Rhonda (husband Morris) Dobrovolony of Beardstown; two grandchildren Caitlyn Mullen and Raelynn Harter; one brother Paul (wife Serena) Mullen of Beardstown;several Aunts and Uncles; and his close friends Ronnie Pherigo, Joe Osmer, Eric Kearns, Chris Cowan, Brad Fox, Marty Carrol, John Large, and Steve Sheppard.

He was preceded in death by his mother and his grandparents (Papa and Mimi) Darrel and Helen Geraldine Moran Bresnahan.

Mike attended Beardstown Schools, was of the Christian faith, and had attended First Southern Baptist Church in Beardstown. He was self-employed and, to those who knew him best, described him as a Hustler. In his early years, he co-owned Public Motors in Springfield, later managed Auto Brokers in Jacksonville, and then had his hot rod shop in Beardstown. He loved dirt track racing and frequently attended the Spoon River Speedway. He enjoyed anything with a motor. Mike was a master in the kitchen and was gifted with the ability to cook.

Cremation rites have been accorded and services will be held at a later date with burial in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Oakford. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is assisting the family.
