Michael Chestnutt

Michael Leslie Chestnutt, 55 of Fredrick, died Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. He was born September 25, 1967 in Rushville, the son of William “Bill” Sr. and Goldie Ann Newberry Chestnutt.

He is survived by two brothers William “Bill” Jr. Chestnutt and Frank Chestnutt both of Rushville; and three sisters Dorothy Orrill of Rushville, Cindy Tucker of Beardstown, and Barbara (Husband Daniel) Mangold of Frederick; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Lori Ann and Sue Yvonne Chesnutt and his four-legged friend Hooch.

Mike attended Beardstown Schools. He had numerous jobs over the years including Meyers Nursing Home in Beardstown, IFP, Rushville Cemetery, Rich Hardwoods, and Excel. Mike worked hard for everything he had. He loved the outdoors but especially hunting and fishing. He spent lots of time with his Bird “Bird” and cat Lucy, but the time spent with his family was his greatest joy, especially with his nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11:15 AM, Monday April 10th, 2023 at the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 10-11 AM Monday at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown.
