Maxine Pilger

Hazel Maxine Pilger, age 95 of Beardstown, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Heritage Health in Beardstown.


She was born May 15, 1922 in Brown County, the daughter of Glen H. and Rozella Icenogle Davis. She married Daryle H. Pilger on April 11, 1942 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown, and he preceded her in death on December 27, 2009.


She is survived by her children Richard Eugene (wife Marilyn) Pilger of Beardstown, Mary Ann (husband, Lawrence) Lambert of Eureka and Barbara Kay Lovekamp of Arenzville; one daughter-in-law, Claudia Calder Pilger of Waterford, WI.; five grandchildren, Kenneth D. (wife, Doris) Pilger and Keith D. (companion Monica Ford) Pilger, both of Beardstown, Kristina D. (husband, David) Boecker of Morton, Claude R. (wife Faith) Pilger of Pontiac, MI., and Aaron C. (wife, Jessica) Pilger of Coon Valley, WI; six great-grandchildren, Austin R. Pilger, Emily G. and Ethan G. Boecker, Kaden M. and Keelan D. Pilger, and Jovie M. Pilger; and two sisters Norma Winkleman and Glenna Nordsiek both of Beardstown.


She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son David Glen Pilger; one daughter Donna Marie Pilger; her great grandson Kyson J. Pilger, and her brother Loren Davis.


Maxine graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1941. She was a homemaker and a farmer’s wife who took her responsibilities raising her family to the highest level of importance. Maxine was a longtime member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, active in WELCA, and was involved in community organizations including Cass County Home Extension, Meals on Wheels, and was a 4-H leader. Most of all she cherished her family and will be greatly missed by all.


Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown with Reverend Scott Egbers officiating. Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 5-7 PM Tuesday, at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown.


Memorials have been suggested to First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Cass/Schuyler Area Hospice, or Heritage Health Activity Fund.
