Mary Frances Fischer Blum, 92 of Beardstown, died Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Heritage Health in Beardstown.

She was born May 1, 1924 in Beardstown, the daughter of Roy and Minnie Miller Fischer. She married Orville “Dutch” Blum on August 15, 1945 in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Arenzville, and he preceded her in death on January 12, 2007.

She is survived by her twin sons Gary (wife Gerry) Blum of Beardstown and Larry (wife Linda) Blum of Pawnee; her daughter Karen (husband Mark) Osborn of Hillsboro; six grandchildren Bill (wife Lora) Davis, Brian (wife Kelly) Davis, Travis (wife Jen) Osborn, Melissa Osborn, Stephen (wife Shannon) Blum, and Neil Blum; seven great grandchildren Taylor, Peyton, Dalton, Brittany, Elizabeth, Logan, and Samantha; her sister-in-law Margaret of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers James Fischer, W. Henry Buck, Harry Buck, and Herman Buck, and her grandson Brice Davis.

Mrs. Blum graduated from Arenzville High School in the class of 1941. She worked at Wells Lamont, later Illinois Glove, in Beardstown and retired after 30 years of employment. She was a baptized and confirmed member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Arenzville and also a charter member of Arenzville American Legion Auxiliary Unit #604. Mary loved to sew and even created her daughter’s wedding dress, plus many quilts. She enjoyed riding with her husband on their Gold Wing motorcycle as they traveled many parts of the United States. Most of all, Mary cherished spending time with her family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, May, 9, 2016 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Arenzville. Burial will be in Arenzville North Cemetery. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the services at the Church.

Memorials have been suggested to Cass/Schuyler Area Hospice, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, or Arenzville American Legion Auxiliary Unit #604.
