Marion Kotton Mathis

Marion Kotton "Bubby" Mathis, 19, of Arenzville, died Monday, July 20, 2026.

He was born on February 7, 2007, in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Justin Robert Mathis and Dawn Marie Walton.

He is survived by his father, Justin Mathis of Arenzville; his mother, Dawn Walton of Brookfield, Missouri; his girlfriend, Jessica Trueblood of Arenzville, and their unborn child; his siblings, Harlee Icenogle (Alex) of Beardstown and their children, Anthony and Amelia, Gavin Canada of Arenzville, Timothee Walton of Beardstown, Lydia Mathis of Virginia, and Saylor Swan of Cordova. He is also survived by his paternal great-grandmother, Helen DeVore; his paternal grandfather, Jim Self; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mamie and Lee Hatley; his paternal grandparents, Sandy Staake, John Staake, and Michelle Self; his paternal great-grandfather, Robert Mathis; his cousin, Sydney Moranville; and his aunt, Roberta "Bobbie" Mathis.

Marion was currently employed at JBS in Beardstown and was a proud member of the Old bastard biker motorcycle club (Obbmc).

A true free spirit, Marion loved motorcycles, anything fast, and the thrill of adventure. He enjoyed spending time fishing, listening to music, and making memories with his family and friends. He loved to dance and was always ready to break out the moonwalk, bringing smiles and laughter to those around him. His sense of humor could brighten anyone's day and uplift those around him.

Marion was excited to become a father and looked forward to welcoming his child into the world. Though he could be stubborn at times, he would do anything for those he cared about. He was a friend to anyone who needed a shoulder to lean on or a listening ear. Jessica shared that she was fortunate to experience his gentle, caring side, one she will always treasure.

Cremation rites have been accorded per the wishes of his family. The family will host a celebration of life at a later date.
