Margaret Louise Dyer, 92, of Beardstown, died Friday, June 12, 2026, at Beardstown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born March 26, 1934, in Beardstown, the daughter of George Henry and Birdie Ellen Showalter Reither. She married Wayne Dyer on October 17, 1954, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Beardstown, and he preceded her in death on November 8, 2011.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Teri Eustice (Ed) of Beardstown; her son, Steve Dyer of Sherman; and four grandchildren, David Dyer of Sherman, Joseph Dyer (Sarrah) of Argenta, Andrew Eustice of Beardstown, and Adam Eustice of Beardstown. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Ricky Lee Dyer; and a daughter-in-law, Angie (Anderson) Dyer.
Margaret was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church and graduated from Beardstown High School with the Class of 1952. Following graduation, she began working as a telephone operator for Illinois Bell before marrying the love of her life, Wayne. A few years later, she chose to leave the workforce to devote herself to raising her family as a stay-at-home mother.
Later in life, Margaret turned her talent and passion for crocheting into her own business, Riverside Needlecrafts, in Beardstown. She enjoyed keeping busy with the things she loved most, tending to her flowers and garden, spending time with her beloved dog, Coco, and her cats, especially Missy. She loved her family dearly and was a devoted mother and compassionate caregiver, selflessly caring for her son, Ricky, her husband, and her father during times of illness. Above all, Margaret's faith was the foundation of her life. She dearly loved her Lord and Savior, her church and her church family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2026, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Beardstown. Burial will follow at Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
