Lois Ann McClenning, 78, of Ashland, died Thursday, April 30, 2026, at her home.
She was born March 27, 1948, in Beardstown, the daughter of Frances and Bette L. Farrar Foster. She married Mark McClenning on May 21, 1977, and he preceded her in death on June 2, 1996.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl McCoy of Springfield, Shelly Wessel (husband Brad) of Chandlerville, Kelly McCoy (wife Shawn) of Meredosia, Kristopher McCoy (wife Angela) of Lincoln, Nebraska, Wendy McClenning (fiancé Zac Royer) of Beardstown, and Joe McClenning (wife Bree) of Beardstown; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her sister, Linda Stinson (husband Joe) of Arenzville; her brother, Larry Foster of Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her beloved four-legged companion, Muffin.
Lois attended Beardstown schools and was a member of the Lutheran faith. She was a hairdresser and owner of Mane Attraction in Beardstown. Lois enjoyed tending to her flower garden, found joy in crafting wreaths and baskets, as well as coloring and working puzzles, and often played hand and foot, where she celebrated many wins.
Her grandchildren held a very special place in her heart and were among her greatest joys. Lois was a wonderful cook who took pride in preparing meals from scratch and loved nothing more than feeding her family. She was especially known for her homemade taco shells, a favorite that brought everyone together around the table.
Above all, Lois cherished being a mother and wanted everyone around her to feel happy and loved. Her faith and love for Jesus were an important part of her life.
