Linda Sue Wimmersberg, age 67 of Beardstown, died Friday, December 26, 2025 at her home.
She was born November 20, 1958, in Jerseyville, the daughter of William R. and Judy Hilda Sawyer Wimmersberg.
She is survived by a brother William R. Wimmersberg and her dear friend Gina Knight. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Gary Lee Wimmersberg. She lived a life that quietly defied expectations. Not expected to live many years, she went on to outlive both of her parents, leaving behind a legacy measured not in time, but in heart. Though her life was spent in care, she found deep joy in the simplest and most beautiful moments.
In her younger years, her favorite song was Old McDonald Had a Farm, and she delighted in singing out the familiar "E-I-E-I-O" with pure enthusiasm. She loved car rides and going out to lunch, experiences that brought her comfort and happiness. Later in life, swinging became her favorite pastime, a simple pleasure that never failed to bring a smile to her face.
She was known for her infectious smile-one that could brighten a room and leave a lasting impression on all who encountered her. Family held special meaning to her, and in her world, love often came with the name William. Her father was William, her brother was William, her stepfather was William, and her pastor was also William. To her, all men were lovingly known as William, a reflection of the deep connections she formed and the trust she carried in her heart.
Her life was a reminder that joy does not have to be complicated and that love, kindness, and a smile can speak louder than words.
Private graveside services were held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown was in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left online at www.colwellmemorialhome.com or on Facebook at Colwell Memorial Home.
