Linda Anderson

Linda L. Anderson, age 77 of Beardstown, died Friday, April 6, 2018 at Heritage Health in Beardstown.

She was born June 18, 1940 in Beardstown, the daughter of Ora and Margaret Allen Ballard. She married Melvin Anderson on August 8, 1958 at Lottie Morrow’s home in Beardstown.

She is survived by her husband Melvin Anderson of Beardstown; four children Lisa Zabel of Pleasant Hill, Amber (husband Tom) Pate of Beardstown, Lori Wilson of Springfield, and Stacey (husband Dirk) Erickson of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren Joshua McCabe, Alyssa (husband Mark) Vernon, Sierra Doil, Haley Pate, Lilly Pate, Quinton Wilson, and Mallory Erickson; four great grandchildren Riley and Jeffrey Chappell, Kayleigh McCabe, and Vincent Vernon; and one sister Geraldine Eaton of Beardstown.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Melvin Anderson, Jr., her sister Elsie Gardner, and her brother Ora Ballard, Jr.

Linda attended Beardstown Schools. Alongside her husband of 60 years, she was a mother who raised five children, and the owner and operator of Anderson Tree Farm in Beardstown. Linda’s greatest joy with the tree farm was making wreaths and grave blankets. She enjoyed completing puzzles and fishing, but she loved being with her family; especially her grand and great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Monday, April 9, 2018 at Beardstown City Cemetery with Reverend Andrew Dierks officiating. There will be no visitation. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
