Larry Lee Trone, age 68 of Beardstown, died Monday, September 12, 2016 at Heritage Health in Beardstown.


He was born September 23, 1947 in Beardstown, the son of Thomas Alfred and Pauline Hopping Trone. He married Nancy Mae Lee, on November 6, 1965 in Beardstown.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Trone of Beardstown; four children Angie (husband Robin) Knous, Heidi (husband Mike) Gann, Schuyler (husband Jim) Lauderback all of Beardstown, and Robert Thomas (companion Alexis Adoptante Espidal) Trone of Florida; seven grandchildren Jared (wife Abby) Knous, Bryan Knous, Genna (companion David Sullivan) Knous, Cadey (companion Alvin Winters) Knous, Mac (companion Gwen Force) Gann, Gracie Gann, and Quin Lauderback; one great grandson Ayden Sullivan; his mother-in-law Harriet B. Lee; his sister Marna (husband Robert) Maxwell of Browning; his aunt Geraldine “Geri” Stevens; and his sister in law Georgeann Gordon of Browning. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, a son Jon Douglas Trone, and a brother Dennis Trone.
Larry graduated from Rushville High School in the class of 1965. After high school he worked at Sinclair Gas Station in Beardstown and later moved to Havana so he could work at Caterpillar in Peoria. When Oscar Mayer opened, he and his family moved back to Beardstown, and he worked there for 19 years until Oscar closed. Then Larry received his HVAC degree and in 1987 he started Trone Appliance Center in the Garage of his home on Jefferson Street. To this day he owns Trone Appliance Center in Beardstown, and also Trone Appliance Center in Jacksonville which he opened in 1992

Larry had an ear for music. He played the guitar and piano and never had any lessons. He also had a wonderful voice but he only sang in his home. Larry was a caring man with a big heart. Whether it was helping someone fix their car, or working all hours of the day to make sure no one had to go without heating, air, or any other problem, Larry was there to help. He also enjoyed playing cards, and during baseball season he would root for the Chicago Cubs and Baltimore Oriels. During football season he cheered for the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos, or wherever Peyton Manning was playing.


Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. Burial will be in the Browning Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 9 AM until the time of the services Saturday morning.


Memorials have been suggested to Beardstown Elks Scholarship Fund, St. Jude’s Children Hospital, or Browning Methodist Church.
