Larry L. Simpson

Larry LeRoy Simpson, 78, of Chapin, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2026, at his home.

He was born October 2, 1947, in Peoria, the son of Lloyd E. and Donna Bellville Simpson. He married Susan Elaine Griffin on November 16, 1985 and she survives in Chapin.

Also surviving are his daughter, Misty Simpson of Las Vegas; his son, Larry Allan Simpson of Appleton, WI; stepchildren Chris Paul of Arthur and Michelle Paul of Petersburg; thirteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one brother, Randy Simpson of Beardstown; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Rhonda Simpson; and two brothers, Robert and Ronald Simpson.

Larry graduated from Beardstown High School, Class of 1965. Over the years he worked for Bohn Aluminum, Cass Woods, and Oscar Mayer, all in Beardstown. He later worked at Ivan Hoe Nursing Home (later Jacksonville Terrace), where he met Susan. He trained with Leonhard & Six Plumbing, became a certified plumber, and retired as owner and operator of Simpson Plumbing.

An outdoorsman at heart, Larry loved time on the river and hunting and enjoying watching wildlife. He fished with his wife, Susan, and they cherished those quiet hours together, making lasting memories.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the services at the memorial home in Tuesday. Cremations rites will be accorded after his services and private family burial will be held.
