Corporal Kevin Matthew Reich, 38 of Beardstown, died Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
He was born February 28, 1986, in Rice Lake, WI, the son of Marc and Rita Caton Reich of Beardstown and they survive.
He is also survived by two brothers Josh (wife Kristin) Reich of Beardstown and Adam (wife Tiarra) Reich of Rushville; four nephews Trace, Kale, Hunter, and Layton Reich; his maternal grandmother Joyce Mulvaney; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins including Tina, Rhonda, Ronnie and Dawn. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Harvey Caton, paternal grandparents Leo and Patricia Mae Reich, his uncle Kurc Reich, and his therapy dog Bacon.
Kevin graduated from Beardstown High School in 2004 and soon after joined and honorably served in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was employed with Cargil in Beardstown for a while and later worked at Site M. Kevin was a member of First Congregational Church in Beardstown. He was a chef for his family and in the Marines. He loved music, culinary arts, island stays, Barnyard animals, and dogs, especially Sparky, Howard, Loki, and Odie. He also enjoyed the outdoors, hunting mushrooms and shooting firearms with family and friends. His adventurous side brought him a thrill while deep sea fishing. He had a green thumb and wasn't afraid to get his hands and feet dirty. He also had a knack for fixing things. He loved his family and his beloved Marine Corps family. His nephews had a special place in his heart, and a void will be felt by all those who loved him the most.
Memorial service will be held at Noon on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at First Congregational Church in Beardstown, with Pastor Lynn Bohlmann officiating. The family will meet with friends two hours before the services at the church on Saturday. Military honors will be held immediately following the memorial services on Saturday at Guthrie-Pierce VFW Post #1239 in Beardstown. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
