Julie Ann Vancil, age 71 of Beardstown, died Monday, February 15, 2021 at Sarah D. Culbertson Memorial Hospital.
She was born November 22, 1949 in Beardstown, the daughter of Willard E. and Darlene Bridgman Howell. She married Dale E. Vancil on October 18, 1969 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Beardstown.
She is survived by her husband Dale Vancil of Beardstown, two daughters Amy (husband Paul) Davidsmeyer of Beardstown and Heather (husband Orion) Armon of Broomfield, CO; seven grandchildren Sydney (husband Michael) Hernandez, Katie (fiancé Adam Enz), Isabella, and Amelia (significant other Manny Rico) Davidsmeyer, Pax, Indigo, and Ace Armon; two grandchildren Isaac and Lucy Hernandez; a brother David (wife Mary Jo) Howell of Beardstown; a niece Whitney (husband Kurt) Kessler; two nephews Joey (wife Lyndsey) Howell and Tanner (wife Amanda) Howell; seven cousins Kaye (husband Ed) Hack, Donna (husband Ronnie) Craven, Mark (wife Debbie) Edwards, Tony (wife Ashley) Edwards, and Scott (wife Kara) Edwards; and a brother-in-law Richard (wife Debbie) Vancil. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Vancil graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1967 and was active for 50+ years as a class committee member, always working closely with the Beardstown Alumni Association. She was a baptized and confirmed member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Beardstown, serving as Sunday school teacher, a member of the Walther League, Married People’s Club, Missions Committee, Voters Assembly Secretary, and Stewardship Chairperson before transferring her membership to First Evangelical Lutheran Church. She served as a “Pink Lady” at Schmitt Memorial Hospital and was formerly active on two bowling leagues in Beardstown. Mrs. Vancil was employed by WRMS Radio Station, the Illinoisan Star, James R. Davidsmeier DDS, the State of Illinois Data Processing Division, CIPS, served as secretary for the Beardstown Junior High School, State Farm Insurance, Secretary for the Director of Resource Development at Lutheran Social Services, Lauderback Carpets receptionist, and managed Eyler Auto Center in Beardstown and Rushville. Her love for being around the public afforded her one last opportunity when she joined her husband at Sager Funeral Home, serving as funeral helper and tending the memorial table for 2 years.
Private family services will be held. The family will meet with friends from 10-11 AM Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown.
