Julia Ann "Julie" Reller Barron, 69, of Pittsfield and formerly of Beardstown, died Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Illini Community Hospital.
She was born November 7, 1956, in Beardstown, the daughter of Jack and Joan Quigley Reller.
She is survived by two children, Katie Couch (husband, Dean) of Pittsfield and Jack Walters of Springfield; four grandchildren, Marcus Couch (wife, Kelsey) of Pittsfield, Mikayla Dorado (husband, Ely) of Brenham, Texas, Max Couch (wife, Allison) of Suffolk, Virginia, and Dylan Walters of Springfield; four great-grandchildren, Lane, Kallen, Stevie, and Mia; one sister, Diane Austin of Beardstown; one brother, Dale Reller (wife, Toni) of Arenzville; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Julie graduated from Beardstown High School with the Class of 1974 and attended First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown during her younger years. Julie spent much of her working life in pharmacy, beginning before her children were born and continuing while they were very young. When her children reached school age, she worked as an aide for the Beardstown schools, allowing her to be close to them during those years. As they grew older, Julie returned to pharmacy work and spent the remainder of her career working at several area pharmacies until her retirement.
First and foremost, Julie's greatest roles in life were being Mom and Grandma. Family was truly at the heart of her life, and she would do anything for the people she loved. She treasured the simple moments-good conversation, laughter, time together, and simply being surrounded by family.
Julie also knew how to enjoy a little escape whenever she could. She loved sneaking away to the beach, settling into a chair with her toes in the sand, a good book in hand, and, of course, a Diet Coke never too far away. Those peaceful moments by the water were among her favorites.
To many who knew and loved her, Julie was simply "Peanut," a nickname that became part of who she was and will surely bring a smile to those who remember her.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. Burial will follow at Oetgen Cemetery in Beardstown. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the service at the memorial home on Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to the Blessing Foundation, an organization the family selected in gratitude for the many resources, services, and support it has provided to their family. Through these memorials, Julie's family hopes to give back and help ensure those same valuable resources remain available to others.
