Joyce Johnson

Joyce Anne Johnson, 93 of Beardstown, died Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.

She was born September 3, 1930 in Beardstown, the daughter of Lloyd and Mayme Heitz Alcorn. She married Harold Johnson on February 17, 1951 in Virginia and he preceded her in death on January 16, 2013.

Surviving is her sister Vera Fox of Burlington, IA. and several nieces, nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister Phyllis Conn, and three brothers Harold, Kenny, and Jerry Alcorn.

Joyce graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1948. She began her working career with First National Bank in Beardstown where she held many positions and retired as Vice President. She was of Christian Faith and loved her hometown. Every year she looked forward to the Beardstown Fall Fun Festival. She enjoyed the simple joy of being at home in the house her husband built. Joyce traveled the country participating in bowling and golf tournaments.She was an avid customer of QVC shopping network. Her giving heart allowed her to support many charities and even though she had no children of her own, she loved all children.

Per Joyce's wishes Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no services. Private family burial will be held in the Beardstown City Cemetery. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
