Joseph Eric Trone, 61 of Beardstown, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2023. He was known as "Nitro" to many, and Eric to all.
He was an avid, die-hard Chicago Cubs fan, and loved the game of baseball. He was an artist in his younger years and was passionate about capturing beautiful images of the outdoors and family. He had a knack for restoring old bicycles and adored visiting with friends at his favorite watering holes. But above all, he loved being Uncle Eric and spending time with family. He won many "dictionary" bets, and it was hard for anyone to outshine his trivia knowledge.
Eric graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1980. He honorably served in the United States Marine Corps and was proud of his country. He previously lived in Texas and later came back north to Beardstown. Eric rode his bike all around town and made it a mission to look for ways to help improve the town he called home. He had many different jobs in his life but was a dedicated employee who truly enjoyed his time at WRMS for the past 11 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother Marianne Trone, a niece Aimee Trone, and his aunts, uncles, and grandparents.
Eric is survived by his wife Cindy Trone; his stepdaughter Sara Lamb and her boys Chaz and Weston Loxley; his siblings Jeff Trone of Jasper, TX, Greg (wife Melanie) Trone of Centralia, Chris (wife Wendy) Trone of Montgomery, TX, Martin Trone of Beardstown, and Chala (husband Wayne) Blake of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.
He has left many behind who will miss him each day. His presence was big and sometimes "grouchy", but in a friendly way.
Cremation Rites have been accorded and the family will host a celebration of life December 2, 2023 from 1 to 3 PM, in the back room of the Nook in Beardstown. Burial will be held at a later date in the St. Alexius Catholic Cemetery. Colwell Memorial Home is assisting the family.
Memorials have been suggested to Colwell Memorial Home to help with funeral expenses. Condolences may be left online at www.colwellmemorialhome.com or on Facebook at Colwell Memorial Home.
"Weep not for me though I am gone
Into that gentle night
Grieve if you will, but not for long
Upon my soul's sweet flight
I am at peace, my soul's at rest
There is no need for tears.
For with your love I was so blessed
For all those many years.
There is no pain, I suffer not,
The fear now all is gone.
Put now these things out of your thoughts
In your memory I live on.
Remember not my fight for breath
Remember not the strife
Please do not dwell upon my death,
But celebrate my life."
