John Wubker

John J. Wubker, age 70 of Beardstown, died Wednesday morning June 8, 2016, surrounded by his family, at his home.

He was born December 4, 1945 in Beardstown, the son of William L. and Mary L. Surratt Wubker. He married his high school sweet heart Linda Shores on June 25, 1966 at the First United Methodist Church in Beardstown.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years Linda Wubker of Beardstown; two daughters Angela (husband Don) Schwalb and Mary Ellen (husband Will) Petersen both of Beardstown; four grandchildren Gennah and Clayton Schwalb, and Walker and Stella Petersen; his great granddaughter Finnley; his brother Chuck “Charlie” (wife Carol) Wubker of Beardstown; two sisters Pat Lee of East Peoria and Sue (husband Jack) Peterman of Potts Camp, MS; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Billy Wubker

John was a member of Beardstown High School class of 1964 and then started working at Oscar Mayer in Beardstown for 19 years. He attended Parkland College in Champaign, and then began his career with Shure Audio Company and retired after 23 years as an Acoustical Engineer. During his time at Shure, he was an inventor and holds four patents on sound equipment, he designed microphones for LeAnn Rimes and Michael Jackson, and traveled to Mexico and China for work.

John was a member of Bethel Community Church of the Nazarene and had attended The First Christian Church of Beardstown for the past several years to be close to his family. In his younger years he was a member of the JayCee’s and currently a member of Mascouten Bay Muzzle Loaders, Chapter 66 clock Association, and National and American Association of Watch and Clockmakers. John was a master clock maker and enjoyed spending time working with his hands. In his free time, he loved attending Steam Shows with his brother, traveling, antiquing and flea markets with his wife and daughters. John had a special bond with is grandchildren and enjoyed spending quality time doing things he loved with each of them. Most of all he cherished his family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, June 13, 2016 at First Christian Church in Beardstown. Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 3-5 PM Sunday at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown.

Memorials have been suggested to Cass/Schuyler Area Hospice, First Christian Church, or Beardstown Christian Academy.
