John Douglas Spears, 53 of Beardstown, died Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
He was born January 24, 1972 in Jacksonville the son of Floyd James and Nancy Snyder Spears
He is survived by his mother Nancy Snyder Spears of Beardstown; his father Floyd James Spears (wife Karen) of Beardstown; two sons Kyle and Andrew Spears of Beardstown; two grandchildren Avery and Ella Spears; two sisters Rosie Evans of Quincy and Kathy McVey of Abingdon; three brothers Brad Spears (wife Linda), Steve, and Mark Spears (Debbie) all of Beardstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
John graduated from the Beardstown High School class of 1990. Following graduation, he worked alongside his father as a carpenter and utilized his skills as an electrician at S&S Builders and later E&L Builders in Beardstown. In his free time, he loved fishing, mushrooming, hunting, and collecting arrowheads and glass bottles. John was known for his kindness and was always ready to lend a hand.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be held at noon on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. The family will meet with friends from one hour prior to the services at the memorial home on Monday. A private family burial will be held at a later date in Oak Grove Cemetery, Beardstown.
