John Andris

John Andris, age 78 of Beardstown, died Wednesday, January 12, 2022.

He was born July 13, 1943 in Beardstown, the son of Joe and Helen Schaeffer Andris. He was married to Sue Vredenburgh and they later divorced. He then married Joyce Lael and they also later divorced.

He is survived by a son Joe Andris of Weston, FL and his mother Sue Hea of Rushville and a daughter Christy (husband Aaron) Janes of Arenzville and her mother Joyce Andris of  Jacksonville; and six grandchildren Quinn and Isaiah Andris, Jaelen Irlam, and Katia, Max, and Devon Janes. He was preceded in death by his parents.

John was a 1961 graduate of Beardstown High School. He honorably served in the United States Army and retired from the Illinois National Guard. He worked at Bohn Aluminum in Beardstown for 25 years until its closing. John then began detailing cars at his home also at Jennings in Beardstown and finished his career with Illinois Department of Corrections in Mt. Sterling. He had a passion for cars and watching NHRA Drag Racing. He owned several Corvettes and a “Boss-Stang” that he raced at the Beardstown Drag Strip. He was an avid runner, participating in many races, and enjoyed weightlifting even taking home a first prize body building competition at one time. He lived his life to the fullest and will always be known for his many passions.

Memorial services will begin with Military Honors at 11 AM Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown with Pastor Matt Haberman officiating. Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the services at the memorial home on Thursday.
