He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Michael Loran Osborne, and his sister Becky Ladd.Jeff graduated from Beardstown High School in 1968 and began working at Oscar Mayer in Beardstown. He later joined the United States Air Force, where he served honorably as a metal technician. After returning home, he worked at Oscar Mayer for another ten years before taking a position with Wareco, which took him to southern Illinois. He eventually returned to Beardstown to help care for his parents.

In his younger years, Jeff cherished family vacations, and later in life he found great enjoyment in fishing and painting vivid scenes of waterfowl and landscapes. He loved gardening and took pride in tending both flower and vegetable gardens. He also had a special fondness for raising Shih Tzus and basset hounds. Jeff operated Royal J Shih Tzu Kennels, breeding and selling dogs around the world, even as far as Japan. He was a licensed handler and showed dogs across much of the United States.

Jeff's faith was a guiding light in his life. He was a devoted member of Bethel Community Church of the Nazarene, where he served as a missionary liaison and was always bold in sharing his testimony.
