Jane L. Fearneyhough, age 89 of Beardstown, died surrounded by her family, Saturday morning May 28, 2016, on her beloved late husband’s birthday, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born January 21, 1927 in Louisiana, MO, the daughter of Clyde Milton and Jessie Belle Dillender. She married Glenn A. Fearneyhough on November 28, 1948 and he preceded her in death on February 25, 2009.

She is survived by her children Bob (wife Lynn) Fearneyhough of Lincoln, Georgeanne (husband David) Osmer of Beardstown, and Jack (wife Marti) Fearneyhough of Beardstown; six grandchildren Michele (husband Andrew) Conley, Jennifer Fearneyhough, J.R. (wife Misty) Fearneyhough, Jessica Jane (husband Chris) Dour, Gwendolyn (husband Luke) Thomas, and John (wife Jennifer) Osmer; two step grandchildren Juli (husband Jim) Gallagher and John (wife Jenny) Mortz; and ten great grandchildren Parker Conley, Katie Gallagher, Mason Osmer, Jackson and Maryn Dour, Grant, Vivian, Ivana Jane, and Lucy Thomas, and Peyton and Bailey Fearneyhough.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers Clyde Milton Dillender Jr, and Jack P. Dillender.

Mrs. Fearneyhough graduated from Louisiana High School in the Class of 1945, and later from the University of Missouri Columbia with a degree in Business Administration. She was the office administrator for Beardstown Lumber and Ready Mix which was owned and operated by her husband. During her time at the lumber yard she also worked as a substitute teacher and at this time knew she wanted to make teaching a permanent career. Education had always been very important to Jane and she instilled those values in her family. She decided to further her education by attending Western Illinois University, which happened to be at the same time her oldest son was a freshman, and received her teacher’s certificate. She taught Math, Reading, and English at Beardstown Junior High School over 20 years. In her younger years, Jane loved to travel around the United States and also Europe, and in her spare time she enjoyed her Golf and Bowling league. Mrs. Fearneyhough was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Beardstown, Emblem club, Lions, Cass County Retired teachers, IL Retired teachers, Delta Kappa Gama, and DAR up until her stroke five years ago. Jane was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and never skipped out on her Bridge club. Most of all Jane lived each day for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown with Pastor Mike Courson officiating. Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 5-7 PM Tuesday and also one hour prior to the services on Wednesday, at the memorial home.
