Jane Erna Boehl Fawcett, 86 of Beardstown, died Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Beardstown Health and Rehab.
She was born February 13, 1939, in Quincy, the daughter of Arthur and Erna Hehmeyer Boehl. She married Lessley Junior Fawcett on July 16, 1983, in Rushville, and he preceded her in death on February 25, 2020.
She is survived by her son Steve Smith (wife Debra) of Beardstown; grandchildren Bob (wife Lynette) Smith of Beardstown, Blake Smith (companion Tabitha Davis and her son Tre Harris) of Virginia, Jeremy Jamison of Beardstown, Misty Smith of Rushville, and Jessica Jamison of Columbia, MO; three great-grandchildren Bryson Hamilton, Noah Hamilton, and Remington Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Janice Jamison (survived by her husband, Steve), a son, Bruce Smith, and two sisters, Patricia Nesmith and Mary "Sue" Demitroulas.
Jane graduated from Quincy High School in 1957. She worked for a few years at Quincy Waterworks before staying home to raise her family. Later, she became a hall monitor for Beardstown Schools. During these different periods-her early career, family life, and school work-Jane also cared for many cats and dogs and pursued her passion for collecting. She was of the Catholic faith and also a member of Beardstown Emblem #474. In addition, she enjoyed traveling, water skiing, and canning vegetables from her garden at various times in her life. She was often seen behind the camera, capturing the special moments of her family, who were her greatest joy.
Memorial services will be held at Noon Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown with Father Paul Habing officiating. Burial will follow in St. Alexius Catholic Cemetery. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the services at the memorial home on Saturday.
