Jack Miller,77 of Beardstown, died, surrounded by his family, Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at his home.


He was born October 3,1938 in Quincy, the son of Frank Gibbs and Irene Eisenberg Keil. He married Dolores A. Harbin on December 7, 1958 in Beardstown and she preceded him in death on January 5, 2015.


He is survived by his children Bryan (wife Lora) Miller of Beardstown, Terry (wife Valerie) Miller of Bluff Springs and Linda (Companion Michael Pine) Weaver of Jacksonville; five grandchildren Megan (husband Dusty) Coats and Mattie (companion Dustin Looker) Miller all of Beardstown, Jared (wife Nichole) Miller of Mt. Sterling, Jordan Miller of Des Moines, IA and Emily (companion Josh Lomelino) Weaver of Jacksonville; and three great-grandchildren Tanna, Cami and Aaron Coats.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his sister Sondra (surviving husband Eldon) Heath of Canton.


Jack graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1956. He received an Associates Degree in Computer Science from Lincoln Land Community College. In his early years he worked for Vredenberghs Lumber Yard, he then worked for Oscar Meyer retiring from Cargill in 2004. He also owned and operated Miller Welding with his son. He was a baptized and confirmed member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Beardstown. Jack enjoyed spending time with the Illinois Sporting Clays Association, Men’s Wednesday Night Bowling Team, and the Rushville Golf League. Jack was very active in his grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s lives and never missed any event, but most of all he cherished and loved his family more than anything.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, February 27th, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Beardstown. Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 5:30-7:30PM, Friday February 26th at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown.


Memorials have been suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice.
