Imogene Burnett

Imogene Burnett, 86 of Beardstown, died Sunday, November 12, 2023 at her home surrounded by family.

She was born February 19, 1937 in Beardstown, the daughter of Perry and Nellie Travis Self. She married Bob Burnett in 1971 and he preceded her in death on September 19, 1991.

She is survived by her three children Linda Atwood, Betty Nash, and James (wife Melinda) Beatty all of Beardstown; one granddaughter Vicki Atwood; one grandson Kevin (wife Nelly) Nash; 7 great grandchildren Makayla( companion Adam Blackwell)Lopez, Bogarth (companion Autumn) Lopez, Jr, Nathaniel Atwood, Josh, Monica, and Megan Nash and Tony Montoya; one brother Harlen Self; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter Tina May Lamey, four sisters Catherine Carpenter, Anna Mae Surratt, Ruby Smith, and Velma Nash, and two brothers Robert and Lawrence Self.

Imogene attended Beardstown Schools. She worked in restaurants around the area as a cook, for a period of time at Astoria Fibra Steel and helped other people by cleaning their houses. She enjoyed working in her garden and was known around town for her dedication to the vegetables she grew. At one time she had over 200 tomato plants. In her spare time, Imogene loved driving around town with her daughters. She loved her family and a void will be felt from all those who loved her the most.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 5-7 PM Wednesday at the memorial home.
