Harriett Nolen

Harriett Arlene (Spencer) Nolen of Beardstown, died Sunday, August 2, 2015 at her home.
She was born October 21, 1932 in Beardstown, Illinois, the daughter of Melvin Lyles and Dorma Lisenbee. She married Ernest “Gene” Nolen on May 30, 1970 in Alton, IL.

Surviving is her husband Gene Nolen of Beardstown; her children Gena (husband Jake) Coats of Beardstown and James (wife Tammy) White of Philadephia, IL; four grandchildren Zackary and Nolen Coats, Stephanie (husband Chad) Treadway, and Heather (husband Brandt) Springer; four great grandchildren Christian, Carter, Kaydence and Caden Treadway; two sisters Delores Jarrett and Gloria Fritz; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step dad, her grandson J.D. White, and two brothers Ronnie (in infancy) and Melvin Jr. Lyles.
Harriett attend Beardstown schools. She spend many years cooking and retired from Beardstown Dairy Queen. Harriett loved to cook and owned her own bakery “White’s Bakery” in Jacksonville. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids. She adored her family and friends, and will be thoroughly missed by all those who knew her.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. The family will meet with friends from 9:30 AM until time of services at the Memorial Home. Burial will be at the Beardstown City Cemetery.
Memorials have been suggested to Cass/ Schuyler Area Hospice and American Cancer Society.
