Geraldine Eaton

Geraldine Faye "Geri" Eaton, 91 of Beardstown, passed away Monday, January 19, 2026 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

She was born November 18, 1934 in Beardstown, the daughter of Ora and Margaret Allen Ballard. She married Larry "Tink" Eaton in 1974 and he preceded her in death in 2002.

She is survived by her daughter, Sheryl Ann Abbott (husband Steve) of Atlanta, GA, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson Michael Edwards, six sisters Frances Roe, Gladys Homer, Ethel Grady, Linda Anderson, Gen Fox, and Elsie Gardner, and two brothers Bob Hall and Ora Ballard, Jr.

Geraldine was born and raised in Beardstown and was homeschooled by her mother. She worked for 18 years at the Cass County Council on Aging, where she supported many individuals with daily tasks and activities. Geraldine enjoyed playing Bingo and traveling with her husband, especially to Las Vegas. Her faith was a constant source of strength throughout her life.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and no services will be held. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
