Geraldine Bridgeman

Geraldine Bridgeman, age 79 of Beardstown, died Monday, November 7, 2016 at Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville.

She was born January 10, 1937 in Grantham, North Carolina, the daughter of James Oscar and Molly Cotton Draughon. She married Gene Fussell on September 6, 1952 and he preceded her in death in May of 1987. She later married Earl Bridgeman on September 5, 1993 and he preceded her in death on June 2, 2012.

She is survived by her children Sunny (deceased husband Bill) Hager of Beardstown, Debbie (husband Robert) Cowan of Jacksonville, LuGene (husband Kenny) Watkins of Florida, and Billy Fussell of Beardstown; her grandchildren Becky (husband Jon) Stock, Brandon (wife Carley) Hager, Brice (wife Brandy) Hager, Mieki (husband Ethan) Evans, Kyle Duckwiler, Luke (wife Megan) Watkins, and Kelsey (fiance Marty Redavon) Watkins, Jason (wife Danette) Watkins, Kayleigh Ketchum, and Kiana Fussell; 12 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and one brother Sandy (wife Maureen) Draughon of North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, three sisters, two brothers, and her son-in-law Bill Hager.

Geraldine was a member of First United Methodist Church in Beardstown where she was also a member of Circle Club. She worked at Myers Nursing Home in Beardstown in the Dietary Department, and retired after 24 years of service. Geraldine enjoyed sewing, cooking, and reading. Most of all she will greatly missed by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 12 PM Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the services at the memorial home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to Cass County Food Pantry.
